Design Technology
At Godstone Primary and Nursery School, we provide all children with a high-quality, progressive Design and Technology education that engages and inspires them to develop a love for the subject and their talent as designers. Design and Technology is taught in a way that allows children to develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to confidently perform everyday tasks and to successfully participate in an increasingly technological world.
Our Design and Technology curriculum provides children with a practical approach to their arts education, where they are encouraged to use their creativity and imagination to design, make and evaluate a range of products. As a result, the children learn to think and intervene creatively to solve problems both as individuals and as part of a team.
We ensure to provide effective delivery of a Design and Technology curriculum that is accessible to all of our children. Design and Technology is taught during three half-terms throughout the school year by the class teachers. As the children move through the school, they build a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills in order to design and make high-quality products for a range of uses. Through the engaging units covered, the children are provided with learning opportunities that develop creativity through designing skills such as generating, exploring, modifying through drawing and modelling with materials.
